1941 NFS Inventory - Fire Force 19 - Division E - Sub-Division 2 |
The National Fire Service (NFS) was formed by amalgamating all the existing local fire brigades and the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) in 1941, under the auspices of the Government of the day. This was due to non standard equipment and procedures causing problems during World War 2 when fire appliances and crews were mobilised outside their own areas to assist with the bombing raids of the blitz.
